Spring News 2008

Personally..
I’ve been truly blessed with the opportunity to travel several times already this year.  I participated in the Director’s meetings at the MVI office in Orlando in January.  I went to Guatemala for the first MV Central America Regional Conference.  I made a trip to Panama with the purpose of  training a team going from Panama into Cuba.  And I just got back from another trip to Orlando to attend pertaining to some new organizational structure for MV.  I’m also working on editing the MV Handbook and Field Coordinator’s manual.

Missionary Ventures Latin America
     Beitas
Randal & Rachel also attended the Regional Conference, and a week of orientation in Guatemala, they are now officially Area Representatives for MVLA in Costa Rica.  Rachel is pregnant with their first baby!! They are planning on taking a team into Honduras this year.  Please pray for them as they continue to try to raise monthly income for their full time ministry with MVLA.

     Rene
Rene Gonzales in Guatemala also attended the Regional Conference and the week of orientation, he helped to translate some of our materials for bringing people on board with MV into Spanish (so exciting!).  He too is looking for financial support each month so he can work with MVLA full time.

     Spanish Training Materials
I met with the director of TCCI in Orlando, the organization who put together the short-term trip training materials I’m using to train Latin teams before they go on the field.  We discussed putting the DVD’s in Spanish.  Please Pray! This would be such a huge help for me, as I’m currently teaching the classes myself in Spanish because all the pre-written materials are in English.  Having a DVD to hand the team leaders and let them take the team through the training would be SUCH a step in the right direction.

    MVLA Magazine
I have the next Missionary Ventures Magazine translated into Spanish and ready to print.   I need $1300 to print it and distribute it to our personnel through out Latin America.  This would really help all of us in promoting the sending of Latin teams along with our brochures.

     More MVLA Area Representatives
I would like to start making trips into Latin countries where MV does not have an Area Representative promoting and sending teams.  MV has solid contacts in almost all of the countries within Latin America, I need to start utilizing those contacts, find out who is interested in actively participating in missions and then help them to lead teams.  Everything in Latin America happens with personal contact, I need to be able to travel into El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, South America, etc. and start things rolling.  MV does not have the funds to help me with these trips, so please pray that my support base starts bringing in enough funds for me to make a few trips each year.

     Missionaries from Ecuador into Morocco
Missionary Ventures has raised up and trained a couple from Ecuador and they are moving to North Africa this year as full time missionaries. They are the first Latin missionaries for MV to send to the field.  I was able to meet and spend some time with this couple at the Regional Conference. I’m hoping to be able to raise up teams to send to Morocco to help them from Central & South America with in the next few years. This is really exciting for me, as my focus is to eventually get the Latin’s both short term and long term into the 10x40 window.

     Latin Short-term and Long-term sponsorship
My latest & greatest idea is to start promoting through out the churches in the USA to sponsor a Latin or a Latin couple or Latin team to go into the mission field.  My experience has been these last few years, that the Latin’s who are called into missions, both short term and long term, are able to raise about 1/2 to 3/4 of their expenses out of their home church and churches in the surrounding areas.  I’m currently working with middle class to upper class level churches with in San Jose and Guatemala City.  The 1/4 to 1/2 of the expenses that they are not able to raise, Missionary Ventures has graciously helped me out with supplying finances.  But, we need to do this differently.

The teams and missionaries that go out from Latin America need help from the 1st world countries to go.  As soon as I start working with people from small villages that want to be involved in missions (much lower than middle class), they have enough money from selling rice or picking beans to barely feed their families each month.  The churches can’t even support their pastors, much less come up with funds for sending someone on the field.  We need to expect them to raise funds, but they also need outside help.  Please help me pray about how to go about presenting the sponsorship idea.  It will be as much as a new idea for North Americans to give and not go, as it will be for the Latin’s to get personally involved and go.

Ometepe Feeding Center

Dr. Sandra is still doing wonderful ministry on the island of Ometepe.  She sends me photos of the children frequently and thanks me for the opportunity to feed the children.  Please pray for this feeding center, as it is low on monthly pledges.  I’d really love to continue to help her feed the children in the impoverished areas where she hold clinics.

Natural Medicine Studies

I’m slowly but surely learning and seeing progress.  I was standing outside with one of my herb books looking at a monster plant that has grown up over my head next to the driveway.  It looked very much like a picture of Milk Thistle, and sure enough it is.  Excellent for liver & gall bladder, I threw a couple of leaves into my tea.  While I was out there with my book, I noticed some other plants (weeds) that look exactly like their pictures, and discovered that a lot of the overgrowth of weeds is actually a bunch of different types of herbs.  I got all excited and started using them in the herbal recipes suggested in my books.

This is exactly what I’m praying for… I would like to be able to let people know how to use what’s growing around them instead of being so incredibly dependent on the pharmacy.  I’ve created several healing oils, salves, and teas.  I’m using them on myself and the dogs (great experimental specimens!)  Everything seems to heal exactly what it’s supposed to so far.  I’ve probably got another year to go before I finish this first certificate, and then I can start working on the 4 year study program.  There’s a school here in Costa Rica that will help tremendously, but it’s a 3-month commitment and $10,000.  I would also very much like to attend a 2 week seminar in Georgia (USA) called “A More Excellent Way”, a Christian based seminar on healing, the price to attend the seminar will be about $2000.  Please pray that God leads and directs me as I move into this area of education.  I need not only time but also finances to be certified and use Natural healing and Medicine in ministry.

In  Summary

Lots of prayer requests this time and financial needs.  My newsletters are usually not usually filled with such petitions.  Thank you for reading, being interested and praying for this ministry, in all its different facets.  I pray for prayer warriors that they would continue to rise up and pray for me consistently and be blessed; as I desperately need the time and effort they spend in prayer.  Thank you for your prayers and you financial support… none of this would be happening with out you.

Much Love!
