Short Ministry Summary for 2008
Sondra Livermore is serving as the Director of Missionary Ventures Latin America Sending office. She is based in Costa Rica and she is promoting Latin American churches to raise up and send teams on short-term missions trips. She now has two countries with indigenous Latin Area Representatives promoting and taking teams from their home country into other countries. Rene Gonzalez is running teams of Guatemalans from Guatemala city into remote areas of Guatemala. Rachel & Randall Beita are running teams of Costa Ricans into other Central American countries to help pastors in remote, impoverished areas.
Please pray for Sondra, Rene, and the Beitas as they continue to promote the new concept of participating in missions through out Latin America. Rene, Randall & Rachel are missionaries, and are responsible for raising and maintaining their own monthly support. Sending teams and supporting missionaries is a strange concept for most of the churches in Latin America, and funding is very difficult for them to commit to. We are all praying for new, creative ideas to help the churches actively participate in the great commission. Sondra is also looking for more Area Representatives to run teams out of other Latin Countries.
Sondra has taken an interest in learning more about natural medicine and using diet, herbs, and natural remedies for meeting physical ailments and illnesses. Pharmaceuticals are expensive, and a lot of times unavailable to the people in the areas she works in. Natural medicine includes using diet, herbs, and other natural remedies that would greatly help using resources more readily available. She is finishing up her first year of taking online classes for a Family Herbalist Certificate from Clayton College.
In an attempt to learn more about natural medicine, Sondra has started working with Dr. Sandra Caldera on the island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. Seeing the extreme needs of the people living on the island, Sondra and her friend Trish Lewis raised funds so Dr. Sandra can feed the most needy children in the areas she works in.
Sondra is also working with Rahab, an organization in San Jose, Costa Rica. Rahab gives the ladies working in the streets as prostitutes an alternative. Rahab is focused on education and healing, spiritually, emotionally and mentally.
