Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Many changes have taken place since my last newsletter and I hardly know where to begin. So, I’ll just throw the big news out there first, and if you’re still hanging in with me, you can read the details on how I got here…
The New News
After much deliberation and prayer, in January I will begin working with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) El Paso-Juárez. This YWAM base on the US-Mexico border is involved in various forms of outreach, runs missionary training schools, and has a children’s home in Juárez, Mexico. Many of you know my dear friend Gwen Conrad has worked with YWAM here for many years. It’s a PLEASURE to be working with her again, especially in missions.
How I got here
I spent much time and effort arranging to go to Orlando, Florida to work at the MV office. When I finally did find a house to move into in Orlando, the door closed for me to make the move. In looking back on the situation, God had put a few checks in my spirit about going to Florida, but I wasn’t sure what was taking place. God is good, He led me to El Paso and in quite an amazing way, showed me the ministry He wanted me to be involved in. Once it became clear that God was directing me to change ministry organizations, I resigned from MV which was difficult. I could not discount the number of “God Events” that had occurred and the amount of prayer sent up that pointed me towards making this move. To be honest, I do not fully understand what God is doing (I rarely do). I have a deep desire to help peoples in third world countries become active in missions ministry and YWAM is very involved in this area. I believe God’s calling me to a ministry that includes the use of natural herbs as remedies; I’m sure with time the Lord will show me how this all fits together.
Once the decision was made the Lord provided a rental home within easy driving distance to the YWAM El Paso-Juárez office. The dogs have a fenced in yard. A short walk behind the house is the Rio Grande with ducks and birds (fun for dogs to chase). The Lord has blessed me with a beautiful location. The house is a bit of a shocker, it’s an old adobe home built in the 1890’s and it needs work. I’m making my way through the spider webs, dirt and dust. I feel as though I’m working with an old rock that the Lord has asked me to clean up, and as I break away the dirt and hard crust, I’m finding there’s a jewel inside.
